State committee clears projects worth Rs 3,028 crore

Bengaluru: The city’s rural district will be witnessing investment in IT sector, after the State-Level Single Window Clearance Committee approved 43 industrial investment proposals worth over Rs 3,028 crore, including Rs 495-crore investment by Hoskote Neo Homes Ltd, on Saturday, April 30.

Industries Minister R V Deshpande, said that Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd will be investing Rs 455 crore in food and agribusiness sector in Dakshina Kannada.

Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology’s proposal to set up an Advanced Polymer Design and Development Research Laboratory, with the help of Union government in Bengaluru Rural district at a cost of Rs 87 crore, was cleared by the committee. The government has decided to allot five acres of land at Devanahalli for the purpose after Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers.

Deshpande said that the Chemical and Fertiliser Ministry would be allotting about 150 acres for a proposed Pharma Park in Mysuru.

A few of the other investments proposals like Nirani Sugar Ltd’s Rs 113 crore project in Bagalkot, Wilderness Lodge Pvt Ltd’s Rs 150 crore in the tourism sector in Kodagu, the IOC’s Rs 150-crore investment plan in Bengaluru Urban and The Printers (Mysore) Pvt Ltd’s Rs 17-crore project proposal in Mysuru in the printing sector, were also cleared by the committee.

Deshpande informed that, to attract investors to Karnataka, the State government would be establishing a company called Invest Karnataka under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 1956.

The company will have highly skilled staff and will have representatives both government and the private sector.
