Bangalore : The State BJP leaders are planning to invite newly appointed party national president Amit Shah for its executive meeting to be held next month.

The State unit postponed its executive meeting scheduled to be held in Mysore on July 12-13, following the appointment of the new president last week.

“We plan to visit New Delhi soon after the conclusion of the Legislature session (it will be on till July 30), meet Shah and invite him to the State,” Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council K?S?Eshwarappa said.

While the dates for the meeting is yet to be decided, it is likely to be held next month. The leaders want suitable representation for the State in Shah’s new team of office-bearers. In the last few weeks, a section of State BJP leaders have been pitching for former chief minister B?S?Yeddyurappa to the party’s national vice-president post.

Yeddyurappa, who won the Shimoga Lok?Sabha seat with a huge margin, was not inducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi into his Cabinet.

The corruption charges against Yeddyurappa are said to have gone against the former chief minister in getting a ministerial berth. Yeddyurappa’s close aides are now pitching for a national role for him.

A few leaders, including Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers H N Ananth Kumar, attended Amit Shah’s son, Jay’s engagement in Ahmedabad on Sunday, party sources said.
