Bengaluru: State minister for higher education, G T Devegowda has decided to review the autonomous educational institutions in the state after several complaints were received about irregularities in their functioning.

Reportedly, several complaints were received with regard to irregularities in the syllabus, standard of education, infrastructure, fees and examinations.

The higher education minister has the power to make sure that the education standards are being maintained, as he is also the pro-chancellor of state universities. He can also raise the issue with the higher education council, although, the state government has little say in the functioning of the institutions as they fall under the purview of the UGC.
