Bengaluru: Dawood Ibrahim’s close associate, Chhota Shakeel will be charged by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru police for plotting to eliminate one of the right wing leaders in Karnataka through his aide Syed Niyamath alias Rehman last year.
Chhota Shakeel had plotted to eliminate a prominent Sri Rama Sene leader through his aide Niyamath (29), of Bismillahnagar near MICO Layout. Niyamath is said to be a professional offender and has several murder cases against him. He was nabbed in November 2015 with his three associates for allegedly plotting to kill a right wing leader at the behest of Shakeel.
Reportedly, Niyamath was in constant touch with Shakeel over phone.
An officer speaking to Deccan Chronicle said on condition of anonymity, “Shakeel, who is acting on the orders of his mentor, Dawood, had sent money to Niyamath through the hawala route and was in the process of sending him the firearm through a courier for the operation, which would have created communal unrest in the city and state. Niyamath was caught in the nick of time. He was introduced to Shakeel through another associate Rashid Malbari, who was arrested earlier. He was released on bail but he jumped bail and managed to escape from the country on a forged passport. Niyamath had met Malbari, when they were in judicial custody in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara.”
The CCB officials will be filing chargesheet under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act, Arms Act and the concerned sections of the Indian Penal Code.
