Bengaluru: Those who bought apartments, sites in and around Bellandur lake never thought that they will face problem due to the lake pollution. But now the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order on cleaning the lake has created a lot of problems for them with all the civic bodies launching special drive to ensure that the property owners follow the stringent guidelines without fail. Thousands of people who have bought sites and apartments from those developers who have enchroached the revenue and lake land would face a similar situation.
In a landmak decision, special court set up by the state government has decided to try land enchroachment related cases and has registered suo motto cases against 4,247 land enchroachers in the Bengaluru city.
The court registered suo motto cases based on findings of a report prepared by the Department of Land Records which has pointed out that 4,535 acres of land belonging to city lakes has been enchroached.
As per the decision of the court, all the enchroachers will be issued notice in next three months.
