Bengaluru: The Viveknagar police have arrested six people, including four women on the charges of robbing people by diverting their attention.
According to police sources, two women were taken into custody while moving in a suspicious manner in Viveknagar police station limits who later confessed to crime of robbing people by diverting their attention. The police have identified the accused as Vijaya (45) and Sudha (31) of Velankanni taluk in Tamil Nadu.
The police informed that the accused used to pretend as passengers and rob old women passengers by diverting their attention. The police said the accused also cheated senior citizens by promising to help them get old age pension. The accused used to rob the jewellery of old women in auto rickshaws on the pretext of taking them to tahsildar office.
The police, based on the information given by the accused, have also arrested Lakshmi alias Rajeshwari, Muthumari, Kannan and Manohar. The police have recovered 850 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 26 lakh.
With the arrest of the accused, the police have solved 25 cases – 15 cases in Bengaluru Central, five cases in Bengaluru South East, one case in Bengaluru North, three cases in Bengaluru East and one case in Bengaluru South.
