Bengaluru: Following the government of Tamil Nadu’s decision to cut down petrol taxes by Rs. 3 per litre, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to lower the price of both petrol and diesel in the State.

“Tamil Nadu has decreased the petrol price by Rs 3 helping lakhs of simple people.  I urge Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Shri Basavaraj Bommai, to follow suit and reduce the price of both petrol and diesel in the State,” Siddaramaiah tweeted.

In his maiden budget presentation to the Assembly on Friday August 13, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said the government has decided to reduce petrol tax by Rs. 3 per litre.

Siddaramaiah had requested Bommai earlier in the day to clarify his government’s policy on the Mekedatu project, accusing the BJP of speaking on conflicting ideas.
