Bengaluru: Taking a jibe at BJP national president Amit Shah for terming the state Congress dispensation a ‘corrupt’ one, chief minister Siddaramiah said that these charges are nothing but lies woven by an ‘ex-jail bird’.
Earlier Shah, while addressing the valedictory event of Parivartan rally, in Mysuru on January 25, had said that it would take over a week to narrate the long list of corruption cases against the Siddaramaiah led Congress government in the state. Shah had also tweeted:
“Siddaramaiah govt has crossed all limits of corruption. In Karnataka, Siddaramaiah and corruption are synonyms. Siddaramaiah means corruption and corruption means Siddaramaiah.”
Responding to his allegations on Twitter itself, Siddaramaiah stated: “Says an ex-jail bird who chose another former jail bird to be his party’s CM candidate for our Karnataka election. Can he present facts about the so called corruption charges against me or my Govt? Just telling lies won’t help. People will not believe his #jumlas.”
It may be recalled that both the leaders had courted arrest in the past. While BS Yeddyurappa was arrested in the illegal mining case at Ballari in 2011, Amit Shah was arrested in 2010 by the CBI in the Sohrabuddin fake counter case and had been sent to judicial custody.
