Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader Siddaramaiah has made it clear that he will not contest the upcoming parliamentary polls.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, February 5, Siddaramaiah said that there is pressure from all the 28 seats that he should contest from one of the seats, but he has decided not to run for Parliament. It is said that his followers want him to continue in state politics and become the CM of the state for the second time and this is said to be the main reason behind this decision.
Even as the party considers the former CM as a Lok Sabha material, Siddaramaiah’s attempt to make an entry into the Parliament as an MP way back in 1991 (from Koppal), as a Janata Dal candidate met failure. The failure happened despite the fact that Koppal constituency is a Kuruba dominated constituency.
