Bangalore: The BBMP officials on Monday August 18, without any prior notice demolished over 75 shops and establishments which had been constructed over a storm water drain at Seppings Road, Shivajinagar.

The officials stated that there was no protest from the shopkeepers, who relented to the move, as during the rainy season the water used to enter their shops and damage their property.

BBMP officials now plan to widen the drain and provide alternative arrangements for the displaced shopkeepers at the earliest.
