Bengaluru: Nearly a month after a mishap occurred at Mantri Square Mall, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Saturday restored its occupancy certificate (OC) and the mall will reopen partially to the public from Sunday.
It may be recalled that in January 16 the BBMP had withdrawn the occupancy certificate of the mall after two of its housekeeping staff were injured as the cantilever beam at the mall collapsed.
The mall reopened on Sunday after its OC was restored in the name of Hamara shelters on Saturday by BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad after going through a final report submitted by the expert committee on February 23, following a meeting with structural consultants of the developers who have given an affidavit for the structural safety of the building.
The BBMP has however laid a few conditions for the Mantri developers while restoring the OC viz the third floor will remain closed until completion of entire repair works, submission of maintenance reports of the building and utilities, like AC ducts and water supply lines as well as expert inspection reports of the structural stability of the building to the BBMP annualy, use of appropriate leak proof technology on terrace and setting up of fire safety devices in the mall and submit NOC from Fire and Emergency Services to BBMP every two years
