Bengaluru: Congress leader, former minister, Davanagere strong man Shamanur Shivashankarappa has been re-elected as the president of the Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha. He was elected unanimously.
He will be the president for the Mahasabha for next five years.
KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre was present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shamanur Shivashankarappa made it clear that the Mahasabha will not ask its members to support any particular party. “We want the political parties to give more tickets to the community members,” he said.
“The mahasabha has several plans like a free hostel for the community students in Bengaluru and all the district headquarters. We are also proposing setting up a competitive examination training institute to ensure more youth from the community make it to the government services,” he said.
