Bengaluru: L K Athik, a senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary of Rural Development Department in Karnataka has insulted Mysore Wodeyars by naming his cat ‘Chamaraja Wodeyar’.

Athik was the Chief Secretary when Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister.

He has tweeted the photo of his cat with a caption ‘our own Chamaraja Wodeyar’. This tweet has gone viral and has attracted severe outrage.

Twitteratti questioned his audacity of naming his cat after the famous king of Mysore and also tweeting about it.

However, Athik tweeted back saying that his children had named the feline. The ragedTwitteratti questioned him for not deleting the post even after seeing it and the Twitterati also wanted to know whether his children themselves had named the cat for which he did not reply.

After Rajpoots, Wodeyar dynasty was the only dynasty which has ruled for more than 500 years.

The Mysore State (Karnataka) has seen its golden years under the Wodeyars rule, specifically under Chamaraja Wodeyar I to Chamaraja Wodeyar VII.
