Bengaluru: The horticulture department has banned the selling of tea and coffee in Cubbon Park, in order to make the area, a major lung space for the city, smoking free. An order in this regard was issued by Kusuma, Joint Director (Department of Horticulture).

According to the horticulture department authorities, a decision in this regard was taken after people complained that the tea and coffee vendors also sell cigarettes, causing pollution.

“Some of those who drink tea and coffee also smoke. Therefore it has been decided to ban the sale of tea and coffe in the park,” explained an officer.

“Making the park pollution-free was one of the key demands of the regular park users,” he added.
