Bengaluru: Tension prevailed at the Kempegowda International Airport on Monday following a hoax bomb threat. The airport authorities received a letter about a bomb which later turned out to be hoax.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) of the airport convened a meeting soon after the letter was received and searched the entire airport. But they found nothing as such and termed the bomb threat ‘non-specific’.
“The airport continues to remain on high alert and security has been beefed up in and around the terminal. Additional security has been deployed at all passenger areas that include car park and kerb. KIAB in collaboration with CISF and state police continues to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of all its passengers,” read an official statement.
An FIR was filed with the airport police. Meanwhile, Tayyabur Rahman, a 45-year-old owner of a tours and travels company in RT Nagar was questioned by the airport police in connection with the incident and learnt that someone tried to implicate him and he had role in it.
However, police have seized the laptop and mobile phones of Rahman to verify his background. Police are trying to trace the man behind the incident.
