School bus with 40 students rams into wall, two injured

Bengaluru: As many as 40 children had a miraculous escape on Thursday after their school bus crashed into the compound wall of their school.

The driver, Venkatesh who was trying to enter through the gates of Delhi Public School in Sathanur near Chikkajala at around 8 am, rammed into the compound putting the lives of the children into danger. Two children, identified as Ashwin and Vibha, sustained minor injuries in the incident and were treated at Columbia Asia Hospital. Venkatesh was also injured in the mishap and was treated at the same hospital.

The police booked and arrested the bus driver under section 279 of the Indian Penal Code for rash and negligent driving after it was confirmed that he was not driving under the influence of alcohol.

The city traffic police had conducted a drive to nab errant school bus drivers recently in which numerous drivers were booked for rash driving and also for driving while drunk.
