Mysore:Sarita M,a research scholar of the University of Mysore who was in the news some time back following the complaint of sexual harassment lodged by her against her then guide Shivabasavaiah, has submitted her thesis for Ph.D to the University of Mysore. The University has accepted the thesis and she is expected to get her doctorate during the next convocation. Her thesis is entitled “Anti-fertility activity of eugenia jambolana lam seed extract in female albino rat.”
Sarita had SM Bhagya as her Ph.D guide, after she charged her previous guide who was also the Head of the Department of Zoology of seeking sexual favours from her.
Here it is worth mentioning that Sarita had once even attempted suicide over the sexual harassment episode and the university’s women’s harassment complaints committee, which investigated the case, had found Shivabasavaiah guilty following which he was suspended and subsequently arrested.
Shivabasavaiah was later transferred to Kuvempu University, Shimoga and later the order was revoked and he was appointed administrator of its satellite centre in Chamarajanagar.
The probe into the sexual harassment case is still underway.
