Bengaluru: Amid the scenario of the deteriorating exposure for the traditional arts of our country, Sangeet Sadhana, the school of music and art, aims at preserving and propagating Indian classical music. It has successfully spread the authenticity of Hindustani classical music in Bengaluru.
Sangeet Sadhana, the music school is an extension of Agra Gharana, which means that it follows the traditions and styles of the Khayal Gaiki rendition. The institute was opened in 2009 with one objective- to preserve classical music and propagate the most authentic musical traditions of India. The music school has been following the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara right from the beginning.
Music is an art and it cannot be limited to the conventions of the compositions and the rules or the boundaries formed by the respective gharanas. Anindita Mukherjee, the founder of Sangeet Sadhana, has established her signature style by prioritising emotion and has been transmitting this core principle through her teaching to all her pupils. Mukherjee has founded a unique style of teaching which has made deep connections with Agra Gharana. Due to this unique style of teaching, over the years, Sangeet Sadhana has emerged as truly reliable in the way that it has been nurturing and creating new aspirants of classical music.
Mukherjee has 22 years of experience in classical music. She is a dedicated and most delighted artiste in her genre. She is a disciple of the legendary Vidushi Dipali Nag (1922-2009) and was trained under her tutelage. The avidly trained founder now renders and teaches the traditional music which is an Agra Gharana’s embodiment. Dreaming to manifest the essence and symbol of divinity in the heart of every music lover and learner, she holds the pride of Sangeet Sadhana as a whole.
Sangeet Sadhana channels its ideologies through various musical concerts, so that it is available to all the Hindustani classical music lovers and students in the city. The school has been inviting many legendary artistes like Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pandit Dr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, an acclaimed Indian violinist and Kavita Krishnamurthy.
Sangeet Sadhana, in the beginning of the new year, will present “Benarasiya”-another wonderful music concert-on Sunday, January 14. This concert is an attempt to cherish the contributions of the most celebrated artiste, “Queen of Thumri”, Padma Vibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi and will feature the legends of Benaras Gharana and Padma Bhushan Pandit Rajan Misra and Padma Bhushan Pandit Rajan-Sajan Misra, who will perform live at the Gayana Samaja, Bengaluru.
This Sunday, “Benarasiya” will bring many age old traditional gaiki styles in front of Bengaluru’s music listeners presented by Sangeet Sadhana.
