Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the cyber crime division to investigate the sleazegate incident in connection to minister for primary and secondary education Tanvir Sait.
Siddaramaiah who spoke to mediapersons said that Tanveer Sait explained him the incident and said that he was only scrolling down the messages on Whatsapp and had not done anything wrong. “We cannot do whatever the BJP wants. He seems to have done nothing wrong on the face of it. After his explanation, I have asked the Crime Investigation Department to investigate the matter fully,” Siddaramaiah said.
The CM also stated that though he has not discussed about the incident directly with the party high command, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara had given the details to the party leaders in New Delhi.
Minister Tanveer Sait landed into trouble on November 10 after a video footage emerged showing him purportedly watching sleazy pictures on his mobile on stage at a public function to mark Tipu Sultan’s anniversary celebrations in Raichur district. Oppostion parties BJP and JD(S) have been demanding his resignation.
