Bengaluru: Notorious rowdy-sheeter Slum Bharath was shot dead by the North Division police in Bengaluru on Thursday, February 27.

As per reports, Slum Bharath was shot with two bullets by police inspector Venkataramanappa, after the former opened fire on the policemen with an illegal weapon.

It is learnt that the rowdy-sheeter has more than 50 cases, including murder, attempted murder, against in various police stations.

Reportedly, the police had brought Slum Bharath to the city to take him to the places where he had committed crimes. It is believed that his associated received information about the police movement and opened fire on them when they were travelling in a car at around 2 AM. Rajagopalnagar police inspector Dinesh Patil B S was hit by a bullet, however, he survived as he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Another bullet hit a police vehicle.

The associates managed to take Bharath away from the police and took him in their car.

At around 5 AM, based on a tip-off, a team of police officials rushed to Hesaraghatta Road in Peenya and tried to catch Bharath and his associates, however, the rowdy-sheeter opened fire at them, injuring constable Subhash of the Nandini Layout police station.

When Bharath and his associates refused to back down and continued to fire at the policemen, despite a warning shot from police inspector Venkataramanappa, the latter fired two shots at the rowdy-sheeter.

The grievously injured Bharath was rushed to a hospital, however, he died without responding to treatment.

According to reports, police said that one bullet hit Bharath in the leg while another pierced his abdomen.
