Bengaluru: History-sheeter and former corportor V Nagaraj is said to be out of danger after he allegedly consumed poison at a press meet here on Friday.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, a day after his release from jail, Nagraj claimed that he and his sons had been falsely implicated in police case as he was going to contest the Assembly elections. He alleged that around 83 people, which also included names of KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao, minister K J George and a senior IPS officer had conspired against him and plotted to kill him.

In the midst of the press meet, the former corporator took out a bottle and gulped its content(supposedly poison) before his aides snatched the bottle from him and took him to a hospital.

‘Don’t vote for the Congress’, ‘don’t vote for Dinesh Gundu Rao and George,’ Nagraj kept shouting as he was being taken away from the venue.

Nagraj was treated at the St. Martha’s Hospital and is said to be stable after the doctors gave him a stomach wash. However the doctors advised the police against taking his statement at that time.

Responding to Nagaraj’s allegations, Gundu Rao said he didn’t know him and refused to comment further.

It may be recalled that nearly Rs 14 crore of demonetised currency had been seized from Nagraj’s residence. He had been arrested on March 11, 2017, in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district.
