Rons Bantwal receives Karnataka Media academy award

Bengaluru: The prestigeous Karnataka Media academy award has been conferred upon popular journalist Rons Bantwal here on Thursday at the Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha by the Chief minister along with information and broadcasting minsiter Roshan Baig and law minister T B Jayachandra.

The minister for information and broadcasting, Roshan Baig presided over the function. Social welfare minister H Anjaneya released a documentary on the awardee. Ramalinga Reddy, Transport minister released the book written by Rons Bantwal.

Loksabha member P C Mohan, Vidhan Parishat members K Govindaraju, H M Revanna, Kannada Culture and Public relation general secretory Dr N Nagambika Devi, N R Vishukumar, Media academy president M A Ponnappa congragulated the awardee. Academy Secretory S Shankarappa were present.

Raichur Vani received the Andolan award-2014, given for the best District newspaper, Abhimani award-2014 for article on best social issue was given to Siddalinga Swamy’s article on Kunigal taluk Gollarahatti women published in Vijaya Karnataka. Mysore digantha award-2014 was given to Shridhar Mangalore’s Tanuva Teidu Sugandha Hanchuva, an article on Humanity published on Lokadhwani daily newspaper of Uttar Kannada.

Rons Bantwal who is currently working as a Mumbai regional reporter of magazines of Vijaya Karnataka owned by Times of India group is a world famous journalist. He is the editor of Mumbai edition of Delhivarthe Kannada Daily and is the only one person who represents India as an authorized reporter of many magazines like Udayavani, Karnataka Malla Kannada Daily and many Kannada-Konkani, English weekly magazines, and fortnight magazines.

He came into journalism in Mumbai through Konkani weekly magazine ‘Raknno’, and gradually became the Mumbai chief of Kannada daily ‘Janavahini’. He is also engaged in social work, especially in helping Kannadigas in Mumbai.
