Bengaluru :BBMP authorities took action on Wednesday by sealing Rockline Mall, owned by renowned Kannada film producer Rockline Venkatesh, due to outstanding property tax dues spanning 12 years.
Senior officials from BBMP, including the zonal commissioner, visited the mall situated in T Dasarahalli and proceeded to secure the premises, citing the owner’s failure to settle the outstanding dues despite receiving prior notice.
According to BBMP officials, Rockline Mall is accountable for a substantial sum of Rs 11.51 crore in arrears, accumulating from the fiscal years 2011-12 to 2022-23.
The inauguration of the mall dates back to 2011 when it was unveiled by the then Karnataka home minister R Ashoka.
This instance isn’t isolated, as BBMP has previously taken similar measures against non-compliant establishments. Just last December, Mantri Mall faced closure for its failure to remit Rs 51 crore in property taxes to BBMP.
Rockline Venkatesh, known for his prolific contributions to the Kannada film industry and as a co-producer of the 2015 blockbuster ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ starring Salman Khan, finds himself in the spotlight amidst this tax dispute.
