Road accidents claim 13 lives in state

Bangalore : A total of 13 persons have lost their lives in three separate accidents on the National Highway 4  and Hosur Highway in Bangalore on Sunday April 27.

Seven persons belonging to two families which had been to Mysore too have lost their lives.

The Tavera car in which the two families were travelling crashed against a granite laden lorry which was parked on mid road  near Gopasadra near Soolagiri in Hosur of Tamil Nadu  at around 1.30 am. All the deceased hail from Satyagrama in Velur.

The deceased are Anand (48), PSI of Velur, his wife Uma (40), children Arun (13), Sanjay (11), Babu (40) and his wife Ramani (35). Four children in the car  have survived  but their condition is said to be critical.

Two other cars crashed against the same lorry leaving  five with minor injuries. Meanwhile, in a hit and run case two bike riders died on the spot  after a car ran over them.

In another mishap, Raghu (25) and his friend Ravikumar (27) of Kittagana Halli died when they were knocked down by a National Travels bus while they were crossing the road late night  near Hennagara Gate on Bangalore-Hosur main road. Near Hebbagodi, another person named Ramachandra Reddy (53) died when he was  hit by a bus while crossing the road.
