Revenue inspector’s suicide: Police register FIR against BBMP corporator

Bengaluru: The Hanumanthnagar police have registered a first information report (FIR) against D N Ramesh, corporator representing Sunkenahalli ward and three others for allegedly abetting the suicide of a revenue inspector of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Ramesh and three others were named in the FIR after their names were mentioned in the revenue inspector’s suicide note.It may be recalled that Srinivas committed suicide at his home in Srinagar on January 16 night. Though the reason was not known then, over 300 BBMP employees of the Revenue Department had staged a protest alleging that he was driven to suicide because of harassment.

On Tuesday, Srinivas’s daughter found the two-page handwritten note. “We will send the death note to the Forensic Science Laboratory for handwriting verification,” said Sharanappa S D, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Division.
