Bengaluru: The debate on the controversial remarks made by BJP legislator Basangouda Patil Yatnal against veteran freedom fighter Dr H S Doreswamy continued even on Tuesday, March 3, in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. During the discussion, Janata Dal (Secular) legislator H D Revanna who, got up to make a clarification on the matter committed a gaffe.

While the heated debate was going on between the ruling BJP and the Opposition parties, Revanna stood up to pass comment on the issue. While making his statement, he addressed Doreswamy as a politician instead of calling him a freedom fighter.

The BJP legislators jumped at the chance to howl in the House and say, “You are right brother” to Revanna.

They said, “You said it very rightly. Of course, Doreswamy is a politician.” Realizing his mistake, Revanna immediately corrected himself and said that he was not a politician but a freedom fighter.

Countering this statement, the Congress leaders began lambasting the BJP members.
