Bengaluru: The state government has launched ‘Last Bike Connectivity’, a bike-on-rent facility in the city with the aim of helping the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) passengers.
Transport Minister H M Revanna inaugurated the facility. The scheme has begun in association with four companies like ‘Metro Bikes’, ‘Rent on the Go’, ‘Yulu’ and ‘Pedal’. On a practical basis, this service is available from Shanthinagar bus stand.
How to get the bikes?
Bikes are available at Shantinagar bus stand. If passengers want bikes to come from home, they have to download ‘metro bikes.in’ app or websites. Company staff would distribute bikes to the registered customers after checking their driving license and Aadhar card. After use, bikes should be dropped in the parking area.
The company is thinking of introducing bikes with ‘Keyless Action’ software and it would be realty soon. One Time Password (OTP) is sent to customer’s mobile in the system. This can be mentioned in the software in the bike to borrow bikes on rent. Electric bikes and bicycles will be provided in near future.
“There is provision to take bikes to home at night. Then the passenger has to pay a charge of Rs. 6.50/ km and there will be no separate rent. Bikes can be returned next day morning,” said Metro Bike Founder Vivekananda.
