Bengaluru: The results of the first Pre-University exams will be announced tomorrow, May 5.

The results of the PUC exams, which were conducted in February and March, will be sent directly to the registered mobile numbers of the students and their parents.

Considering the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing lockdown across the country, the department of PU education instructed the colleges not to display the results on their notice boards, which has been the custom so far. This is being done to ensure that no crowds are formed while checking the results.

Those students who have cleared their exams can attend online classes while those who have failed will have to answer a supplementary exam which will be held at the college level. The dates for the supplementary exams will be announced later.

Additionally, the PU colleges, as well as schools, have been directed not to increase the fees for the next academic year.

Meanwhile, activists of the People’s Alliance for Fundament Rights to Education Karnataka has urged the state government to cancel the pending SSLC and PU examinations.

In a letter to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, the convener of the Alliance argued that it would be difficult to maintain social distance during exams. It suggested that the government either drop the board exams for this year or make the exams a “school level affair with letter students”.
