Bengaluru: The three day-long tug of war between the State government and the state transport department employees’ union over pay hike has finally ended with both parties agreeing for the government’s offer of 12.5 percent hike.
The denouement came as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah offered to hike the salary by 12.5 percent against the union’s demand of 35 percent which was later reduced to 18 percent. The union agreed with the State government’s offer and called off the strike with immediate effect.
Union leader Ananthasubba Rao called off the strike and asked the agitators to resume to work immediately. This came as a much needed relief for the general public as well as the government.
