Bengaluru: After enduring scorching temperatures, several regions across Karnataka received welcome showers on Saturday, bringing much-needed relief to residents. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued rainfall for the next 3-4 days.

The downpours brought joy to Vijayapur district, where parched lands received significant rainfall for over 30 minutes. Farmers expressed hope that these showers mark the beginning of a fruitful monsoon season. Thankfully, no reports of damage have been received.

Chikkamagalur witnessed heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, with showers reported in Jayapura, NR Pura, and Mudigere areas.

Hubballi commercial capital of state witnessed heavy rain for over an hour accompanied with gusty winds, thunders and lightining. The downpour has threw city’s life out of gear and many areas inundated with rainwater. The strong wind caused power disruption in many areas.

In Dakshina Kannada district,  Kukke Subrahmanya received heavy rain with thunder and wind for around half an hour. The IMD forecasts a similar downpour for Bengaluru later this evening or tonight, offering respite from the ongoing heatwave.
