Bengaluru: The Karnataka unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday demanded the government to probe the source of money for Janardhan Reddy daughter’s marriage.
According to Prithvi Reddy, convener, AAP Karnataka, the Central Government is targeting the common man by targeting anyone who will deposit over Rs 2.5 lakh of demonetized notes and imposing a 200% penalty for amounts which cannot be explained.
“Farmers, auto drivers, traders, who would have saved Rs 5 lakh over the years for their daughter’s wedding or to buy a house, will now need to pay a 200 per cent penalty. At the same time, it has chosen to ignore this blatant display of wealth and expenditure on Janardhan Reddy daughter’s wedding without asking any questions,’’ Prithvi Reddy said.
The following are AAP’s demands:
1. Immediate investigation into the detailed expenses for this wedding both sources and those receiving the funds.
2. Janardhan Reddy bail should be cancelled immediately and he should be arrested without any delay.
3. A Social Activist has already filed a complaint to IT Department demanding for a quick investigation on source of money, but Narendra Modi government is still silent over it. We demand that immediate action is taken regarding this complaint.
