Bangalore: H. Arun, a 23-year-old realtor was hacked to death by more than a dozen miscreants in full public view on Tuesday morning in Kurubarahalli near Tavarekere on Magadi Road in the city outskirts.
The victim is an accused in a murder case registered by Nandini Layout police station and in a kidnap case at Nelamangala.
Police sources indicate that the assasination is the result of old rivalry. The assailants approached the victim while he was talking to a friend at around 9.30 am near Sri Rameshwara Temple. They had planned to install a Ganesha idol and were discussing the arrangements for it when around 15 miscreants arrived in eight two-wheelers and attacked him with lethal weapons. Arun sustained severe injuries and died at the spot. The assailants escaped in their vehicles.
The Ramanagara district police and Tavarekere police station staff rushed to the scene. They have taken up a case of murder. Superintendent of Police (Ramanagara) Anupam Agarwal formed many teams under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Lakshmi Ganesh and Circle Inspector Yelagaiah to nab the accused.
