Bengaluru: When All India Congress Committee (AICC) is struggling to finalise the new president for the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), which is vacant after the resignation of Dinesh Gundurao, former Deputy Chief Minster Dr. G Parameshwar informed that he is ready to lead the party state unit.

According to the sources, Dr GP expressed his desire to become the KPCC president with party national leaders when he met them recently.

But according to the sources close to Dr GP he has asked party high command to ensure three years full term if he is selected as the president.

“He is an amibitious person who has set his gaze at the CM’s post. If the party wins in 2023 state assembly election, Parameshwar will want to become the CM,” sources added.

A party group led by veteran leader Mallikharjun Kharge is likely to oppose his candidature as they are looking for a young leader to infuse new energy into the party.

It can be recalled that Dr GP led the party for eight long years earlier.
