Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court is hearing the petiton of Sudhir Reddy husband of DK Ravi’s batchmate under which the Court, on March 22nd restrained the state from from any report or statement on the probe public

While hearing the petition, Justice Nazeer had this poser, “I, incidentally, watched some Kannada channel and saw that those messages were shown word-to-word. You know that I had seen those messages as they were presented to the court in a sealed cover. The mobile, and the documents are in your custody and the court’s documents are in a sealed cover. How did they [media] get those materials that are in your custody? Who leaked it…,”  asked.

Additional Advocate General A.S. Ponnanna claimed that information may have reached the media through “third parties”, while questioning why the petitioner has not taken any action against the media.

Ponnanna, referring to the case of an attack on a woman bank officer at an ATM, claimed that the investigating officer can make public some probe materials for the purpose of gathering more information that would help the investigation.

The AAG said the interim order against making public statements of the case required to be vacated, as the government, due to the restraint order, could not clarify on Ravi’s death in response to public uproar. The hearing will continue tomorrow.
