Ramanagara: A court in Ramanagara has sentenced two accused to two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on them for allegedly snatching a woman’s chain.
The accused, Naveen and Prabhakar, have been convicted of chain snatching. Judge Saraswathi K. S. of the CJ and CJM Court in Ramanagara sentenced the accused to two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine on them and sentenced them to three months simple imprisonment if they failed to pay the fine.
On January 5, 2014, Lakshmamma, a resident of Kakaramanahalli Village in Bidadi Hobli, was tying up cows in her farm on the afternoon of January 5, 2014 when the accused Naveen and Prabhakar, who came on a bike, snatched a gold chain weighing 32 grams from Lakshmamma’s neck and fled. A complaint in this regard was lodged at Bidadi Police Station.
The investigating officer in the case, Anil Kumar, had traced the accused and handed them over to the Court and filed the chargesheet. N..Nagarathna argued as the public prosecutor.
After hearing the arguments, the judge pronounced the quantum of punishment as the charges of the two accused were proved.
