Bengaluru: The Department of Kannada and Culture has officially begun accepting applications for the 2023 Rajyotsava Award starting from October 1. The public is invited to nominate individuals who have excelled in various fields through the Seva Sindhu portal, with the nomination window open from October 1 to October 15.
The Department of Kannada and Culture has released an official statement announcing that individuals of merit can be nominated through the Seva Sindhu Portal’s website address (https://sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in). Furthermore, a Selection Advisory Committee comprising 39 members has been promptly constituted to facilitate the selection of awardees for the Kannada Rajotsav Award in the year 2023.
Kannada Culture Minister Shivraj Tangadagi serves as the chairman of the committee. The Selection Advisory Committee includes Secretary of the Kannada and Culture Department, Literature Prof. Janagere Venkataramaiah, H. L. Pushpa, Veeranna Danda, Moodnakoodu Chinnaswamy, Allamaprabhu Bettadur, Ka.Ta. Little brother, Dr. CR Chandrasekhar, folk artist Pindipapanahalli Munivenkattappa, Krishnamurthy Hanur, Takappa Kannur, Picchalli Srinivas, and 36 professionals from various fields.
In the previous year, the Seva Sindhu app garnered 9,000 applications for the Rajyotsava award, while 67 individuals distinguished in various domains were recognized and presented with awards at the Ravindra Kalakshetra venue in Bangalore. Notably, last year marked the introduction of a new incentive, with Rajyotsava awardees receiving a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, along with 25 grams of gold and a commemorative plaque.
The recipients of the Rajyotsava Award for the year included notable figures like former ISRO Chairman K. Sivan, veteran actor Duttanna, Avinash, Sihi Kahi Chandru in the television sector, Vidwan Gopal Krishna Sharma from Soliga, Salumara Ninganna, Prof. A. Ra. Mitra in literature, and Prof. Krishnagowda and Venkatachalapathy in the judicial domain. They were among the 67 individuals honored with the award.
