Rahul invited for State Congress’s ‘Sadana Samavesha’ on May 16th

Bengaluru: State Congress party leaders are worrying over whether Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will make it to a mega convention that the state congress is planning, to celebrate the completion of two years of the Siddaramaiah government.The government completes two years on May 13.

The Congress has decided to hold a ‘Sadana Samavesha’ (convention to mark their achievements) in Davangere on May 16 to inform the people about the achievements of the two-year-old Siddaramaiah government. AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh, Ministers, legislators, MPs, KPCC office-bearers, and over two lakh party workers are expected to participate. The party has decided to organise the function at a stadium in Davangere, Dr. Parameshwara said.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara, who called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the latter’s residence on Wednesday to finalise the preparedness for the mega event, told presspersons that Mr. Gandhi would be invited to the function, but did not guarantee his participation. If Mr. Gandhi does not attend the function, he will be invited to the State soon for another programme, he said.

The GP polls are to be held on May 29 and June 2, but sources say the model code of conduct will not apply.
