Bengaluru: In a major shock to the Kannada film industry (Sandalwood), young southern star Ragini Dwivedi was, on Friday, arrested by the police for her alleged connection with drug peddlers.

The Sandalwood actress was produced before a local court in Bengaluru and the CCB police took her into custody for interrogation.

It can be recalled that on Thursday, the actress’ boyfriend Ravishankar, who is an employee with the state transport department, was arrested for drug peddling.

Dwivedi is the first actress from the Kannada film industry to be arrested for connections with the drug peddling scandal that recently came to light.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has informed that an FIR has been registered against Ragini. He also revealed that an investigation in this regard was launched nearly a month ago.
