Bengaluru: On Thursday, V S Ugrappa, the Chairperson of Legislature Committee on Crime against Women and Children sought police help to take action against around 100 devotees of Ramachandrapur Mutt for making derogatory comments against him on the Facebook.
Speaking with media persons here, Ugrappa said that 98 derogatory comments were made against him by using un-parliamentary language for directing the police to act on the complaint, lodged by the members of Akhila Havyaka Okkuta from Shivamogga, pertaining to two sexual harassment cases against Ramachandrapur Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharati.
“The members of Akhila Havyaka Okkuta met me on December 20. They lamented over the police inaction in two sexual harassment cases against Ramachandrapur Mutt seer. I enquired with Om Prakash, DG & IGP, Kishore Chandra, DGP (CID) to know the reason for the inordinate delay in investigation and filing the charge sheet in both the cases. I advised the police to file an FIR if they have the material to prove the charges or file a B report if they do not have the material to prove the allegations,” Ugrappa said.
Expressing dismay and anger over the un-parliamentary language used by the members of Swachcha Brahmana Vedike (followers of Ramachandrapur Mutt seer), Ugrappa wondered about the fate of the victims who complained against Raghaveshwara Bharati. “If they are audacious to use such un-parliamentary language against me who holds a Cabinet rank, one need not waste time to imagine the plight of the victims who complained against Raghaveshwara Bharati. I expected these people, who are educated, to use decent language but they have crossed all levels of decency. If their language is any indication, it seems they are neither educated nor decent people,’’ he said.
He said that he had decided to file a criminal complaint with MS Building police seeking a stringent action against those for misusing social media and using un-parliamentary language against him. “I want the police to take suitable action against the members of Swachcha Brahmana Vedike who made nasty comments on me and my caste. They have also attacked the state government, Congress party, the Legislature Committee on Crime against Women and Children, Hindus, Muslims and Christians. If anything happens to me, my family members or members of the Legislature Committee on Crime against Women and Children, I hold Ramachandra Mutt and Raghaveshwara Bharati responsible,” he said.
