Bengaluru: The State government’s initiatives to produce more electricity to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the state by 2020 is the most welcome move that has been made in recent years, said Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala.

Ground, Governor Vajubhai Vala said the state government has already taken a number of measures to increase the production of electricity during the recent years. “The state government has chalked out some more plans to improve and increase the power generation in the state. If all the plans are implemented, the state will become electricity surplus state by the year 2020,” the governor said.
He said the State government has also taken an initiative to ensure more services available for public. “The government has made more than 4,500 services accessible to the public by implementing the Mobile One project. It made the public to have access to various services at their fingertips. It is a very good project and it is the one and only project in the country launched by Karnataka State,” he said.
Emphasizing the need to work with dedication and commitment for the development of the state, he said that state had attracted around Rs 1,20,00 lakh crore investment in the last two years because of its new industrial policy. “The State government has given its nod for 450 industrial projects. I expect the forthcoming Global Investors Meet would facilitate more investments in the state,” he said.
He also appreciated the state government for taking various measures to improve quality of education in the state. “The state government has implemented various schemes for the benefit of students at government schools. It has been distributing books, shoes, socks, bicycles, uniform and also mid-day meal for the benefit of students,” he said.
Cultural programmes representing state’s rich culture and tradition followed after the Governor speech. Security measures were at most to the top.
