Bengaluru: Gaurav Gupta, a close aide of BJP leader and former DCM R Ashok, has been appointed as the BBMP’s new commissioner. He was previously serving the department of IT and BT.

Gupta served in the KSRTC when R Ashok was the state transport minister. He is a 1990 batch IAS officer.

Earlier, he served the BBMP as a special commissioner.

In the BJP circle, Ashok is considered as the party’s face in Bengaluru city. With this, his hold on the BBMP has been strengthened.
