Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has informed that it has reached 95 per cent of the target set for the national pulse-polio immunisation programme, which began on Sunday February 27.

The programme is being implemented across the City, with 141 planning units at BBMP urban Primary Health Centres and 3,404 immunisation booths (including mobile and transit teams) installed across 198 wards.

According to sources, special mobile and transit booths have been installed at places such as schools, major parks, metro stations, places of worship, playschools, daycare centres, significant bus transit points, market areas, shopping malls, play areas, and slums.

“We have successfully tackled diseases such as tuberculosis, cholera, malaria, and plague.  We now have complete control over them. Similarly, our polio campaign has been a huge success,” said CM Bommai after launching the programme at his home office. More than 15,000 people have been mobilised for the programme, he said.
