Bangalore: As per the draft rules uploaded on the Government’s website, the proposed fee structure for unaided, private schools in the State there are different slabs for different levels of schooling in different parts of the State. Schools will be classified based on their infrastructure and activities provided, among other things.
The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has invited objections to these draft rules within 30 days.
The rules have been formulated by a committee formed by the DPI to take a relook at the fee formula for private schools in the State.
Development Fee

The draft rules specify the amounts that can be collected as development fee, which range from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1,500. The schools will be allotted the slab based on their classification – superior quality to average. There are five grades.
Additional fees for amenities
The rules specify that schools will have to consult parents when seeking additional fee, such as for swimming pools, horse riding and school excursions.
The draft clearly specifies that no fee can be collected from students admitted under the Right to Education Act quota.
