Bengaluru: In the ongoing investigation into the Pulakeshinagar apartment collapse incident which claimed the lives of five people, the police and BBMP authorities confirmed that these buildings were being constructed on an open well.

“The buildings were being constructed on land which had a well earlier. It was closed and construction was started on the closed well so naturally, the apartments collapsed. Even the worst engineer would not allow an apartment to be constructed on a well,” explained a BBMP engineer.

Meanwhile, the BBMP suspended a junior engineer by name B S Prasad for not taking action against unauthorised construction.
