Bengaluru: The progressive thinkers, writers and activists on October 4 staged a protest infront of Town Hall against Sangh Parivar and BJP activists for uploading abusive posts on social media against actor Praksh Raj.

Addressing the gathering on October 4, writer Dr. Vijaya said, “People believed in Modi and elected him as the prime minister. People will question him and Prakash also did the same thing. Answering is PM’s duty. Instead abusing and targeting those who question him is cowardice.”

Thinker G N Nagaraj said, “In a democracy, everyone has a right to question. Nowhere it is mentioned that PM should not be questioned. Prakash Raj has expressed his opinion. The Sangh Parivar and the BJP have been trying to silence those who question.”

Being an MP, Prathap Simha has stooped to a new low by speaking about the personal life of Prakash Raj, he lashed out.

Even the members of DYFI and SFI held protest in Bengaluru against Sangh Parivar and the BJP for abusing Rai on social media.

DYFI President Muneer Katipalla, said, “Prakash spoke truth about Gauri killing and questioned the right person. But instead of answering to him, they have been abusing the actor.”

Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence over the murder of senior Kannada editor and activist Gauri Lankesh, popular south Indian actor Prakash Raj on October 1 had said it was “disappointing” to see the PM follow those celebrating Lankesh’s murder on social media. “Gauri’s killers have not been caught yet. But what is more disappointing is people celebrating her murder over social media and spreading hatred,” Raj had spoken on Sunday speaking at the 11th state meet of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) held in Bengaluru. “Some of these people who celebrated her (Gauri’s) murder are followed by our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) on Twitter. We have a PM who shuts his eyes to this,” he had expressed.

Raj, a popular actor in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi film industries, has won five National Film Awards for his movies.

The 55-year-old editor of Kannada weekly tabloid by her name “Gauri Lankesh Patrike” was gunned down by unidentified men outside her house in the city suburbs on September 5. The Special Investigation Team set up to probe the murder is yet to nab her killers.
