Bengaluru: In what is claimed to be the fourth death due to the same cause this year, a software engineer died on Thursday after falling off a motorcycle when her husband swerved to avoid a pothole on Old Airport Road.

The civic corporation, which had promised pothole-free roads under the Rs. 1,500 crore Nagarothana scheme, blames the monsoon for its failure to fill the nearly 4,000 potholes that dot the city’s major roads.
