Bengaluru: Policemen under constant work pressure are likely to get a pay hike in the range of 10-15 per cent soon.
As per sources in the state Home Ministry, it is learnt that State Home Minister G Parameshwar has completed several rounds of negotiations with the police top brass and is likely to place the proposal in front of the state finance department and chief minister Siddramaiah to get a green signal. This is being done considering the financial implications on the state exchequer where around 70,000 police personnel are likely to benefit if the pay hike is implemented.
If everything goes well, the government is likely to make a formal announcement concerning wage hike by Gandhi Jayanthi, October 2.
It may be recalled, the state police force had planned mass leave protests demanding fulfillment of several of their demands including pay hike. The government succeeded in controlling the situation and even arrested few leaders who initiated mass leave protests. The government then had clearly indicated that there was no room or such rebellion and indicated that all grievances will be resolved across the table through negotiations.
Finally, the aggrieved policemen requested the home minister to look into their plea on humanitarian grounds.
Vacancies in police department to be filled

At the same time, trainees undergoing training will be regularized in the department, confirmed state ministry sources.
