Bengaluru: V Shashidhar, a police constable-turned-RTI activist has filed a case in the Lokayukta against the state chief minister and 27 other ministers, alleging interference in transfers of police personnel.

Shashidhar. President of Police Mahasabha, lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta based on the directive of the High Court. He has alleged ministers’ interventions in the transfer of police officers in violation of the Supreme Court order.
The amendment to the Act has been brought about in the state after the Supreme Court ruling. Accordingly, transfers should be done through “Police Establishment Board.” Shashidhar has complained that the ministers resorted to transfers at will based on the “minutes” exposing their interference.
Shashidhar shot to fame after he planned to spearhead a strike on June 4, 2016 protesting exploitation, low pay and poor working conditions in police force. The planned strike did not materialise but the government later took certain measures to pacify policemen.
