Police raid four bars in city

Bangalore: Police recently raided four bars and restaurants where live bands were performing.

Based on a tip-off, several police teams raided Target Fantastic-3, a hotel in Sheshadripuram and arrested 31 persons who were gambling. Police seized Rs. 34 lakh in cash and five mobile phones from the arrested persons.

Another police team raided Woodlands Hotel and arrested Umashankar from Bellary, who was operating an online cricket betting racket. Umashankar had rented a room in the hotel and was accepting bids from his customers when the police raided the place and caught him red-handed. Police have seized Rs. 7,100 in cash and five mobile phones from him.

Police also raided Topaz Bar on Residency Road and Tantra Bar on M.G. Road, and rescued 46 women bar tenders who were being forced to perform.

Owner of Topaz Bar K. M. Muralidhar and owner of Tantra Bar Shailesh S. Nayak were among those arrested.
