Police on the lookout for sandalwood thieves

Bengaluru: The police are on the lookout for a gang of sandalwood thieves who assaulted a security guard at Indian Institute of Science and cut down a sandalwood tree early on Saturday.

According to security officials who filed the complaint, six to eight men scaled the wall of the IISc campus close to Circle Maramma Temple and overpowered two guards. The police believe the men were part of an organized inter-state network.

BMTC driver beaten up

In an alleged case of road rage, a BMTC driver was thrashed by a group of men when the bus made a dent in their car at Jayanagar on Sunday morning.

According to the complaint filed by the driver, Bomme Gowda, at Jayanagar police station, the men stopped the bus that was heading to Banashankari from Kempegowda International Airport at 9 am. They then assaulted the driver. The men had attempted to overtake the bus, but ended up colliding with it. The driver sustained minor injuries in the attack.
